Kalyani Mahavidyalaya Campus Facilities and Infrastructure

The Kalyani Mahavidyalaya campus provides all the students with the best-in-class facilities and imparts education based on industry standards. For this purpose, the college has various facilities on the campus and its overall infrastructure.

  • Canteen- The college canteen has been a successful part of the college since its inception. The college's cafeteria is located on campus. Students, as well as teaching and non-teaching employees, can have some refreshments at the canteen. The canteen is managed by a commercial contractor that was selected through a competitive process for a single academic session. The Kalyani Mahavidyalaya canteen is quite clean, and it responds to the demands of those who want to eat healthy and nutritional meals. It offers a wide variety of Indian meals and snacks at a reasonable price and is open from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on all working days. Filtered water is used to prepare the food. Selling dangerous items such as junk food, cigarettes, and other tobacco products is strictly prohibited in the college canteen. The college canteen committee keeps a careful eye on the canteen's performance, and the committee and contractor meet on a regular basis to evaluate the canteen's operation. The canteen committee decides on the menu. Every year, the canteen's contract is extended. The canteen and its environs are maintained spotless at all times. On-campus, plastic bags are not permitted.

  • Laboratory- Kalyani Mahavidyalaya has seven departments that require laboratory space (Physics, Chemistry, Botany, Microbiology, Molecular Biology & Biotechnology, Computer Science, and Geography). Laboratories are furnished in accordance with scientific standards and safety norms that apply to each discipline. Information and communication technology (ICT) facilities, such as computers, projectors, and high-speed internet, are available in laboratories. In most of the laboratories, a permanent whiteboard and screen are available to aid instruction and presentation. All departments keep separate stock registers of consumables, glassware, and instruments in proper format as part of their internal documentation system. Departments have a detailed inventory of laboratory equipment. Electrical and mechanical components are regularly assessed and monitored, both individually by departments and centrally by the college's appropriate authorized authority. The Kalyani Mahavidyalaya College authority covers all high-end instruments in the laboratories under an Annual Maintenance Contract (AMC). The Government Fire Brigade inspects and accredits all laboratories for fire safety as part of its fire safety program. Every laboratory has functional and well-maintained fire extinguishers. The local fire department conducts regular fire safety practices and training. In all biology laboratories, biosafety requirements are maintained. Separate waste disposal systems for biodegradable, non-biodegradable, and hazardous chemicals are installed in each laboratory.

  • Library - Any educational institution's library is its nerve center. It is a source of information for higher education and knowledge growth. It is a necessary prerequisite for the college's effective execution of high-quality higher education programs. In the year 2002, the Kalyani Mahavidyalaya Library (KML) was established. It's on the second level of the college wing's second floor. It now occupies around 2500 square feet and can accommodate approximately 100 kids at a time. The library began with only 1000 volumes and has now grown to a collection of over 16000 books. The library of Kalyani Mahavidyalaya is dedicated to assisting the college's teaching-learning activities and ensuring the best possible use of its resources. The library time is Monday to Saturday: 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

  • Medical Facilities - In the event of a medical emergency, the Kalyani Mahavidyalaya provides a health center where students, teaching, and non-teaching personnel can get primary medical care. When college is in session, the health center is open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on weekdays. Regular eye, dental, and health check-ups are organized by the institution with the help of trained specialists. The Kalyani Mahavidyalaya NSS section organizes blood donation camps and health awareness activities on a regular basis. In partnership with the state health authorities, the institution held a Thalassemia detection camp where all students were required to be checked for thalassemia carriers.

  • Classroom - The college features energy-efficient classrooms with LED lighting, enough seating, giant green boards, and other amenities. To offer a healthy classroom atmosphere, all of the rooms have large windows with temperature and ventilation controls. To ensure successful learning, the laboratories are outfitted with the required tools and lab assistants. LCD projectors and integrated computers have been installed in all lab-based departments, significantly facilitating the interactive learning process among the students. To reduce chalk pollution, science departments are given whiteboards instead of blackboards. On the second floor of Kalyani Mahavidyalaya, a virtual classroom was recently established. For the lecture, almost all of the classrooms have been made ICT-enabled. It is recommended that all departments provide a few ICT-based lectures each week. The Kalyani Mahavidyalaya College encourages professors to keep up to date on the newest advancements in their disciplines by encouraging them to continue to expand their skills and expertise. The school has arranged an ICT training workshop and invites faculty members to attend similar workshops and short-term courses held by other institutions in this respect in order to embrace new and creative ideas.

  • Sports-The institution possesses a beautiful 1200 sq. mt. natural grass sports field that is completely encircled by protective fencing. The preliminary stage of sports events can be facilitated by the ground. In addition, the ground can hold a variety of activities and sports, such as football, cricket, and volleyball. The Department of Physical Education owns and maintains a variety of sporting equipment, including footballs, cricket gear, and hockey sticks, among other things. Table Tennis, Carrom, and other indoor gaming facilities are available at the campus. The Kalyani Mahavidyalaya uses the university sports ground for bigger athletics and sports activities, competition, and training. The students compete in a variety of sports at the district, state, and national levels, and have won several trophies and distinctions during their time at the school. The institution also boasts a yoga center that offers yoga training to interested students, and it recently celebrated National Yoga Day with zeal. Furthermore, as part of the necessity to assist them in self-defense, we have a facility to train interested pupils in Karate. The institute as a whole promotes comprehensive games and sports programs as an integrated element of the curriculum for students' overall development and other amenities are available to students at KM Nadia.

Kalyani Mahavidyalaya Scholarships

The Kalyani Mahavidyalaya student welfare committee considers that meritorious yet needy students get support from the college.

The committee helps these students with a fee concession scheme on the basis of their annual income, their overall performance, attendance, etc. Therefore, the college encourages the students to apply for the fee concession scheme.

The students fill out the form where they need to mention their family's annual income.

The students are also assessed on their performance basis.

Those students who qualify for all the criteria are notified accordingly.

Eligibility Criteria for Kalyani Mahavidyalaya KM Scholarships and Fee Concession Scheme

The college has a ‘student welfare committee’ that carries out all the activities about granting the fee concession to the students. The committee encourages needy students to apply for the same. The committee grants the Kalyani Mahavidyalaya scholarships and fee concessions to the students based on:

  • The annual income of their family
  • Overall performance
  • Attendance, etc.

After close scrutiny, the committee selects the eligible students and notifies them as per the college protocol.

Besides, the students can avail various scholarships like OASIS (Online Application for Scholarship in Studies), SVMCM (Swami Vivekananda Merit-cum-Means Scholarship), etc. OASIS scholarship is applied only to minority students. The girls can avail the Kanyashree Prakalpa. The state government offers this scholarship to girls who are active in their studies. But any student can not avail of more than one scholarship together. If it is caught by the college officials, the student can lose the facility of all scholarships further.

How to Apply for the Fee Concession Scheme at Kalyani Mahavidyalaya?

The students need to fill out the fee concession form and mention all the details therein. They also might need to attach the proof of their families' annual income along with the form.
