This college was established in the year 1999 and is the brainchild of the former chief minister of West Bengal, Dr Bidhan Chandra Roy. Kalyani Mahavidyalaya, Nadia is named after Kalyani, the satellite town of West Bengal, and is approved by UGC. It is the first-degree college established in Kalyani and is easily accessible to the students of Kalyani, Hooghly, and North 24 Pargana. The college is accredited by NAAC with a B grade and offers 20 courses in total.  

Earlier, Kalyani Mahavidyalaya offered only six courses, including two pass courses and four honours courses. However, the college now offers 20 courses, including B.A., B.Sc, and B.Com Hons. and General in the fields of Arts, Science, and Commerce. KM Nadia campus facilities comprise laboratories, ICT-enabled classrooms, sports ground, cafeteria, library, etc. This premier college is renowned for its excellence in delivering education beyond the syllabus prescribed by Kalyani University. The college faculty is devoted and dedicated to helping in the students' mental, physical, and emotional development. The college conducts various activities in this direction to bring out a socially responsible human from them.   

The Kalyani Mahavidyalaya student welfare committee considers that meritorious yet needy students get support from the college. 

The committee helps these students with a fee concession scheme on the basis of their annual income, their overall performance, attendance, etc. Therefore, the college encourages the students to apply for the fee concession scheme. 

The students fill out the form where they need to mention their family's annual income.

The students are also assessed on their performance basis. 

Those students who qualify for all the criteria are notified accordingly.

Eligibility Criteria for Kalyani Mahavidyalaya KM Scholarships and Fee Concession Scheme

The college has a ‘student welfare committee’ that carries out all the activities about granting the fee concession to the students. The committee encourages needy students to apply for the same. The committee grants the Kalyani Mahavidyalaya scholarships and fee concessions to the students based on:

• The annual income of their family
• Overall performance
• Attendance, etc.

After close scrutiny, the committee selects the eligible students and notifies them as per the college protocol.

Besides, the students can avail various scholarships like OASIS (Online Application for Scholarship in Studies), SVMCM (Swami Vivekananda Merit-cum-Means Scholarship), etc. OASIS scholarship is applied only to minority students. The girls can avail the Kanyashree Prakalpa. The state government offers this scholarship to girls who are active in their studies. But any student can not avail of more than one scholarship together. If it is caught by the college officials, the student can lose the facility of all scholarships further.

There are several Undergraduate courses offered at Kalyani Mahavidyalaya West Bengal. The Kalyani Mahavidyalaya undergraduate courses include subjects like Bengali, English, Botany, Physics, Chemistry etc. The college also offers General courses in Commerce and Arts streams. Kalyani Mahavidyalaya's admission process is conducted on the basis of merit. All the courses offered by Kalyani Mahavidyalaya are offered in full-time mode. • The students would be able to fill and submit their application forms from 1st August to 26th August.
• The provisional merit list gets published on 28th August.
• The final merit list gets published on 30th August.

Kalyani Mahavidyalaya accepts admissions on a merit basis. The aspirants who wish to be admitted to the college need to produce their 10+2 or equivalent exam mark sheet. No entrance exam is needed to get admission to the college. 

• A minimum of 45% marks in aggregate and 55% marks in the subject or related subject at the previous qualifying examination.
• 50% marks in aggregate and 45% marks in the subject or related subject at the previous qualifying examination.
• 55% marks in aggregate when the candidate has not studied the subject or any related subject in his /her previous qualifying examination provided all other clauses are complied with.

For all the pass courses, they need to have studied English as one of their core subjects with the qualifying percentage which is mandatory. Otherwise, the students can not be promoted to the next semester.
